Shakedown; Pain & Heartache

First Ride: I got the bike almost all put together last weekend and decided that I should take it around the block. Bad Idea! I got way to excited and forgot to tighten the caliper bolts!! Carnage!

After luckily missing any traffic on the busy cross street in my neighborhood due to lack of brakes, (with my ol lady on the back) we pulled back up to the house to access the damage.

I decided to make a few changes and take a little more time getting it road ready.

Second Ride: I had worked a little harder and with the help of my buddy James I made some good changes so I figured I was good to go, more problems. I still have a small amount of bugs to work out including that ol S&S Super B carb I'm running now.

The start of a fresh ride

I started a little bit of reassembly today, the tank is just coated in epoxy primer for now since I haven't decided on the the color scheme for it yet. Billy built the bars for me and Justin is handling the paint.

Drilled

Had to drill out one of my forklegs. Good thing Billy has the worlds largest drill press! Super accurate, used to belong the United States Navy.

Action Cycles moving sale

JM let me know that a local 40+ year moto shop (more like a warehouse) was having a moving sale so I cruised over as fast as I could last friday to see what they had that I just couldn't live without. This shop was mostly jap oriented but if you looked hard enough you could find plenty of American and British parts.

Here's what I came out with after going to this place two days in a row.

I'll be carting some of this stuff to the swap meet in Austin this weekend.

Here's an idea of what this place is like.

Progress made

This is the new tank and new sissy bar the ironhead will be cruising. The frame, tank, and fender will be painted soon and I will be putting the new front end together this weekend. Gotta love the night time grainy phone picture, I've been skipping a lot of sleep in favor of seeing this bike get back up and running.

Another Ironhead Project

These damn bikes keep showing up!!

Chris decided that he needed a little H-D in his life so this little gem was snatched off CL since it was such a damn good deal. A few changes have already been made and there's lots more to come.

The bolt on hard tail will be replaced by a weld-on as well as pretty much everything but the motor.

Chris's BSA Project

Chris started piecing together a bike a few months back and now has enough parts to almost build two bikes. This is the first look at the direction that he has decided to go there is obviously a lot of work beyond this sneek peek at the roller. The bars aren't staying he'll be going with some 7/8" attack bars.

'69 IH soon to see more changes.

I bought this bike in feb '07 and have been constantly changing it ever since. The parts that are getting the boot this time around include: front end, front wheel, sissy bar, fender, fuel tank, bars, and probably the headlight and who knows maybe more than that!!

Watch for updates
